All about the Hanhart 417 ES 1954 39mm on leather strap

Hanhart presents the 417 ES 1954 in 39 mm - a homage to the original

The traditional brand Hanhart from Güterbach in the Black Forest is reflecting on its roots and is releasing a new edition of its most famous chronograph: the 417 ES 1954 in the original case size of 39 mm. After the successful relaunch of the 417 ES in the larger 42 mm stainless steel case almost two years ago, Hanhart is now going one step further and relying on the essence of this iconic model. The abbreviation “ES” stands for “stainless steel,” while the number “1954” honors the original year of production. This reinterpretation brings the legendary stopwatch back in its historically correct size - as an integral part of the official, non-limited collection.

Historical details, modern materials

The new 417 ES 1954 is a kind of time machine that combines the style-defining design elements of the past with the best materials of today. Particularly striking are the sharply drawn, polished bevels, which clearly highlight the transition from the satin-finished horns to the sides of the case. Another typical feature of Hanhart watches is the fluted bezel, which can be rotated continuously in both directions. The red marking on the bezel is reminiscent of the historical model and gives the watch its classic look.

Authentic dial and luminescence

The bi-compax layout of the dial and the true-to-original lettering take the wearer back to the 1950s. Hanhart consciously revived the historical numbers, fonts and brand lettering design of the time. For optimal readability, both the hands and the numbers are coated with Super-LumiNova®, which ensures perfect readability day and night.

A chronograph with a military past

The 417 was originally developed as the first aviation chronograph for the newly founded Bundeswehr. Based on the criteria of robustness, reliability and readability, Hanhart created a timepiece that accompanied the German armed forces for almost a decade. From 1963 onwards, the brand increasingly focused on the production of hand stopwatches, making the remaining examples of the original 417 sought-after collector's items.

Modern clockwork and reliable technology

Inside the 417 ES 1954 is the precise hand-wound caliber SW510 in Swiss-made quality. This movement, protected by a screwed stainless steel back, offers not only a stop seconds but also a power reserve of up to 58 hours when fully wound. The chronograph is traditionally wound by hand and promises high reliability thanks to its high-quality mechanics.

Comfortable bracelet for everyday use

A strap made of black calf leather in waistband style ensures maximum wearing comfort. The base provides a comfortable feeling from the first time you wear it, while the Alcantara interior offers additional comfort. A robust pin buckle made of stainless steel, featuring the historic Hanhart logo, guarantees a secure hold on the wrist.

The 417 ES 1954 Flyback is a successful homage to the original Hanhart 417 and at the same time a modern masterpiece of watchmaking art. It combines classic aesthetics with innovative technology and is a must for every lover of traditional chronographs

FAQs

About me

My name is David, I was born in the late 60s in NRW, now live and work in the beautiful Harz Mountains, and have been running this watch shop, among other things, since spring 2022.

Since 2018, I have also been running my watch blog watchdavid.de, which features hundreds of reviews and watch news. Since then, I have taken thousands of professional watch photos for over 100 watch brands. Many photos can be found in my reviews. I am known worldwide for this.

As a result, I naturally had thousands of watches in my hands. And with this shop, I want to bring you closer to watches that have convinced me in many ways.

So come along on a journey full of watches... off the mainstream... and if you have a question, please feel free to ask me anytime via the form, chat, WhatsApp, email or phone.

I am very much looking forward to meeting you.

PS: My hobbies & passions include the internet (first agency already in 1996), Denmark, France's coasts (Brittany, Normandy & Côte d’Azur), hiking, e-MTB, sales (Bachelor of Sales) and photography.

My Achilles' heel includes children's chocolate, good food, sneakers & of course watches... :-)

Shipping & Insurance

Within Germany and the EU, I ship free of charge. Shipping is done via DHL and insured up to 500€, 2,500€, or 25,000€, depending on the watch value. The watches are thus always sufficiently insured.

The delivery time can be found in the description and/or under the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after ordering, others are brand new and, for example, only available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...

Cancellation & Return Shipping

You can cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.

I will cover the costs for the return shipping for you.

IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself, I will send you the free return label.

Please simply contact me for this. david@watchdavid.com

It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of signs of use. After successful inspection, I will refund you the purchase price. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.

Authenticity & Condition of the Watches

I guarantee you that all watches I offer are exclusively new original products. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly point this out (e.g. so-called PHOTO WATCHES).

As an official dealer, I offer you exclusively authentic products. These are offered in the original packaging, with warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in the so-called full set. One delivers more, another less...

Warranty & Service

All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which usually lasts two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.

If a warranty case occurs, I will take care of the shipping to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and also organize the return shipment to you. In addition, I handle all communication with the manufacturer so that you don't have to worry about anything.

Even after the warranty period has expired, I remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.

Something can slip past me sometimes too. Or the technology doesn't work as it should. Feel free to write to me again at david@watchdavid.com

Mechanics - Sometimes things can happen there too

Before I ship your order, I carefully check each watch for visible defects.
