Hanhart 417 ES Tornado Maiden Flight 148 Copies
All about the Hanhart 417 ES Tornado Maiden Flight 148 Copies
50 years of Tornado's first flight: A special edition from Hanhart
August 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the Tornado multi-role fighter aircraft. Times. For this special occasion, Hanhart, in collaboration with PANAVIA Aircraft GmbH, presents the 417 ES Tornado Maiden Flight - a strictly limited special edition with only 148 copies, which dates back to the date of the first flight , August 14, 1974. This watch pays homage to a technical aviation masterpiece and combines historical details with modern watchmaking.
Historical design in modern perfection
The 417 ES Tornado Maiden Flight is like a time machine that brings the distinctive design of the early Hanhart models into today. What is striking are the finely polished bevels, which accentuate the transition from the satin horns to the flanks and create an elegant contrast. The fluted bezel, a Hanhart trademark, can be continuously rotated in both directions. The red marking of the bezel, as well as the bi-compax layout of the dial, was designed exactly according to the historical model. The fonts and the Hanhart logo are also based on the original designs of the time.
technology at the highest level
Inside the watch, the Sellita AMT5100 M works with a flyback function - a precise and reliable switch wheel movement in Swiss-made quality. It offers a power autonomy of up to 58 hours when fully wound and combines historical tradition with modern mechanics. The screwed stainless steel base ensures robustness and protects the movement, which is wound by hand. In contrast to the original model, the special edition is waterproof up to 10 bar, which significantly increases its versatility.
Details that tell a story
A highlight of the watch is the dial, which bears the cockade in the colors of the three partner nations (Germany, Italy, United Kingdom) below the running seconds at 9 o'clock - a detail , which refers to the tornado's historical identification with the registration number P.01 D-9591. For better visibility, the eye of the second hand has been reduced in size to optimally showcase the cockade. The striking TORNADO logo adorns the lower half of the dial, while the caseback features an embossed top view of the tornado with its wings at 67°. The location, date, flight duration, registration number and limitation number are also engraved there.

Vintage charm with modern comfort
The hour indices as well as the hour, minute and stop second hands are coated with Super-LumiNova® Old Radium, which not only ensures perfect readability day and night, but also the underlines the vintage character of the watch. The black waistband-style calfskin strap with an Alcantara base is extremely comfortable to wear. Alternatively, the watch is also available with a stainless steel bracelet. The stainless steel pin buckle bears the historic Hanhart logo and ensures a secure hold.
A watch that celebrates history
The 417 ES Tornado Maiden Flight commemorates the historic maiden flight that took place on August 14, 1974. The tornado, painted in white and red-orange, took off from the test site of the Defense Technical Department 61 with the radio call sign LUNA 23. The aircraft was flown by a British-German crew: Paul Millett from the United Kingdom sat in the front cockpit, while Nils Meister, a German test pilot, sat in the rear cockpit. After 33 minutes of flight time, the plane landed safely in Ingolstadt/Manching.
Tradition and precision for decades
Hanhart has established itself as a reliable supplier to the Bundeswehr since 1955 and supplied the first service watches for flying crews. The 417 ES Tornado Maiden Flight is based on the former 417 ES service watch in terms of dimensions, function and appearance. It represents Hanhart's claim to maximum precision, perfect readability and robust workmanship. This strictly limited edition not only celebrates the history of an aircraft, but also the tradition of a brand that has embodied unparalleled quality in watchmaking for decades.

FAQs
About me
My name is David, I was born in the late 60s in NRW, now live and work in the beautiful Harz Mountains, and have been running this watch shop, among other things, since spring 2022.
Since 2018, I have also been running my watch blog watchdavid.de, which features hundreds of reviews and watch news. Since then, I have taken thousands of professional watch photos for over 100 watch brands. Many photos can be found in my reviews. I am known worldwide for this.
As a result, I naturally had thousands of watches in my hands. And with this shop, I want to bring you closer to watches that have convinced me in many ways.
So come along on a journey full of watches... off the mainstream... and if you have a question, please feel free to ask me anytime via the form, chat, WhatsApp, email or phone.
I am very much looking forward to meeting you.
PS: My hobbies & passions include the internet (first agency already in 1996), Denmark, France's coasts (Brittany, Normandy & Côte d’Azur), hiking, e-MTB, sales (Bachelor of Sales) and photography.
My Achilles' heel includes children's chocolate, good food, sneakers & of course watches... :-)
Shipping & Insurance
Within Germany and the EU, I ship free of charge. Shipping is done via DHL and insured up to 500€, 2,500€, or 25,000€, depending on the watch value. The watches are thus always sufficiently insured.
The delivery time can be found in the description and/or under the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after ordering, others are brand new and, for example, only available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...
Cancellation & Return Shipping
You can cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.
I will cover the costs for the return shipping for you.
IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself, I will send you the free return label.
Please simply contact me for this. david@watchdavid.com
It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of signs of use. After successful inspection, I will refund you the purchase price. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.
Authenticity & Condition of the Watches
I guarantee you that all watches I offer are exclusively new original products. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly point this out (e.g. so-called PHOTO WATCHES).
As an official dealer, I offer you exclusively authentic products. These are offered in the original packaging, with warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in the so-called full set. One delivers more, another less...
Warranty & Service
All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which usually lasts two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.
If a warranty case occurs, I will take care of the shipping to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and also organize the return shipment to you. In addition, I handle all communication with the manufacturer so that you don't have to worry about anything.
Even after the warranty period has expired, I remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.

Something can slip past me sometimes too. Or the technology doesn't work as it should. Feel free to write to me again at david@watchdavid.com
