All about the Hanhart PIONEER Mk I Old White

Hanhart: Pioneer of Precision Chronographs

From early on, Hanhart set standards in the field of highly functional precision chronographs. In 1938, the company developed the famous monopusher chronograph for naval officers with its specially designed “Caliber 40.” Just one year later, another milestone followed: the first pilot’s chronographs with the innovative “Caliber 41.” This column-wheel movement offered a unique flyback function, allowing pilots to reset and restart the chronograph instantly with a single push of a button.

Renaissance of Legends in the 1990s

In the 1990s, Hanhart brought its historical masterpieces back to life. The Swiss-German watch brand launched faithful reproductions of its legendary chronographs, building on its long tradition and technical excellence. Particularly in 2012, Hanhart caused a sensation when the Pioneer Mk I, Mk II, and TachyTele models with elegant, off-white dials were introduced. These reissues became classics, delighting both collectors and watch enthusiasts.

The Monopusher Chronograph: Pioneer Mk I

The Pioneer Mk I is a tribute to Hanhart's first precision chronograph from 1938. This exceptional monopusher chronograph features a special mechanism where all functions – start, stop, and reset – are operated by a single pusher. Unlike models with two pushers, the chronograph seconds hand does not continue to run after stopping. The next push immediately resets the hand to zero. For this special feature, the caliber used had to be slightly modified: the shifting lever was adjusted so that the cam on the lowest level received an additional tooth. This allows the lever to control not just two but three positions, which is what makes the monopusher function possible.

Robust Case for Maximum Durability

The Pioneer Mk I boasts an extremely robust case designed for durability and everyday wear. Like its historical predecessors, it features a closed, screwed-down case back. This construction guarantees water resistance up to 10 bar (approx. 100 meters) while providing optimal protection against external influences.

Timeless Vintage Look with High Wearing Comfort

The design of the Pioneer Mk I combines historical charm with modern comfort. Its calfskin strap is not only durable but also comfortable, offering a pleasant feel on the wrist from the very first wear. The typical Hanhart strap is complemented by stainless steel rivets, which underscore the watch's vintage character. A high-quality pin buckle ensures a secure fit, whether in the office or during leisure time.

Perfect Dimensions for Everyday Use

With a case diameter of 40 mm and a height of 15 mm, the Pioneer Mk I is both elegant and prominent on the wrist. The minimalist design with the modern Hanhart logo fits perfectly into the existing Pioneer collection. Thanks to its timeless appearance and proven Hanhart quality, it is the ideal companion for daily use.

Conclusion: A Watch for Connoisseurs and Collectors

The Pioneer Mk I combines the history of Hanhart chronographs with state-of-the-art watchmaking. It is not only a functional timepiece but also a true collector's item that harks back to the beginnings of pilot's chronographs. With its combination of historical details, timeless design, and technical precision, it sets a strong statement in the world of luxury watches.

About David from WATCHDAVID

My name is David, and I've been deeply involved with watches for many years – not just as a dealer, but primarily as a tester, photographer, and classifier.

Since 2018, I’ve been running WATCHDAVID as an independent watch project featuring reviews, videos, and real-world wearing experiences. Many of the watches you'll find here have been on my own wrist – often for extended periods.

WATCHDAVID.SHOP is intentionally personal. I only sell watches that I genuinely stand behind – no anonymous mass-produced goods, no dropshipping, no "quick trends." Experience, transparency, and honest assessment are paramount to me.

And yes: I am not an anonymous seller. I enjoy good food, sneakers, and photography – and I have a proven weakness for Kinder Chocolate.

If you have any questions or are unsure, feel free to contact me directly. I will respond personally.

Shipping & Insurance

Within Germany and the EU, shipping is free of charge. Shipping is handled by DHL and insured up to €500, €2,500 or €25,000, depending on the watch's value. The watches are therefore always sufficiently insured.

You can find the delivery time in the description and/or below the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after an order is placed, while others are brand new and, for example, will only be available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...

Revocation & Return Shipping

You can revoke your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.

I will cover the return shipping costs for you.

IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself; I will send you the free return label.

To do this, please simply contact me. david@watchdavid.com

It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of any signs of wear. After a successful inspection, I will refund the purchase price to you. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.

Authenticity & Condition of the Watches

I guarantee that all watches I offer are exclusively new, original goods. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly state otherwise (e.g., so-called PHOTO WATCHES).

As an official dealer, I exclusively offer authentic products. These are offered in their original packaging, with a warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in a so-called Full Set. Some deliver more, some less...

Warranty & Service

All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which is usually two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.

Should a warranty claim arise, I will take care of shipping the watch to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and will also organize its return to you. In addition, I will handle all communication with the manufacturer, so you don't have to worry about anything.

Even after the warranty period has expired, I will remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.
