All about the Hanhart PIONEER Mk II Black Stainless Steel

Hanhart has established itself as a leader in the world of precision chronographs, setting standards for decades. As early as 1938, Hanhart developed a single-pusher chronograph specifically for naval officers. This first chronograph utilized the in-house "Calibre 40," known for its reliability and functionality. Just one year later, in 1939, Hanhart presented the first pilot's chronographs with the "Calibre 41," a column-wheel movement that integrated the innovative flyback function. This function allowed the stopwatch to be reset with a single press and immediately start a new timing.

In the 1990s, Hanhart revisited this glorious past and began offering faithful reproductions of its historical chronographs. These re-editions were met with great enthusiasm by collectors and watch enthusiasts, as they perfectly embodied the combination of tradition and modern watchmaking.

The Renaissance of the PIONEER Models

With the introduction of the PIONEER series in 2012, Hanhart presented three iconic models: the Mk I, Mk II, and TachyTele. These watches were not only technically improved but also received an elegant black dial that recaptures the vintage charm of the originals. The PIONEER Mk II model, in particular, draws attention as it is based on the historic pilot's chronograph from 1939.

Striking Design and Functionality

The PIONEER Mk II combines the classic design elements of the original model with modern accents. The case measures 40 mm in diameter and has a height of 15 mm, making it appear both elegant and robust. A special feature of this watch is its two pushers: the upper pusher isymmetrically positioned, while the lower reset pusher is in striking red. This color scheme dates back to a legend that states a pilot's wife marked the pusher red so her husband would think of her every time he used it.

Robustness and Water Resistance

For Hanhart, reliability is paramount. The PIONEER Mk II is therefore equipped with a closed, screwed case back that guarantees water resistance of up to 10 bar. This makes the watch an ideal companion not only in the cockpit but also for everyday use and outdoor activities.

Strap and Wearing Comfort

Hanhart places great importance on wearing comfort and durability. The PIONEER Mk II comes with a hard-wearing calfskin strap that sits comfortably on the wrist from the start. The robust stainless steel rivets on the leather strap emphasize the vintage character and provide an authentic, historical aesthetic. A high-quality pin buckle made of stainless steel with the Hanhart logo also ensures a secure fit and easy handling.

A Perfect Companion for Every Occasion

With its timeless design and proven Hanhart technology, the PIONEER Mk II is the ideal watch for any occasion, be it in professional life or leisure. The historical character combined with modern elements such as the Hanhart logo makes this watch a highlight within the PIONEER collection. This blend of tradition and innovation ensures that the PIONEER Mk II not only excites watch enthusiasts but also serves as a true collector's item.
