All about the Hanhart PIONEER TachyTele Black 40mm
Hanhart: Pioneer in Precision Chronograph Manufacturing
As early as the 1930s, Hanhart set standards in the world of highly functional chronographs. In 1938, the company developed the single-pusher chronograph specifically for naval officers, equipped with its self-developed Caliber 40. Just one year later, the first pilot chronographs were introduced with Caliber 41, which featured a column-wheel movement with a flyback function. In the 1990s, the Swiss-German watch brand decided to launch faithful replicas of these legendary models, successfully building on its long tradition and technological expertise.
Renaissance of Classics: The Pioneer Series
In 2012, Hanhart presented a new edition of its popular models Pioneer Mk I, Mk II, and TachyTele. This collection was expanded with elegant off-white dials, which underline the watches' vintage character. The PIONEER TachyTele combines classic design elements with modern functions. It is not only a chronograph but also features two striking red scales that are particularly easy to read on the off-white dial.
Multifunctional Dial: Tachymeter and Telemeter Scale
One of the outstanding features of the PIONEER TachyTele is the integrated tachymeter scale, which runs spirally in the center of the dial. This construction allows for the measurement of average speeds over three full revolutions of the stopwatch hand. This means the watch can detect relatively slow speeds from 60 km/h down to 20 km/h. This is complemented by the telemeter scale, located on the outer edge of the dial. This enables precise distance determination based on the speed of sound.

Robust Design and Classic Comfort
The PIONEER TachyTele measures 40 mm in diameter and has a case height of 15 mm. It comes with a closed, screwed stainless steel case back, ensuring water resistance up to 10 bar. The durable calfskin strap with stainless steel rivets provides comfortable wear from day one. Alternatively, the watch is also available with a stainless steel bracelet. A high-quality pin buckle ensures a secure fit on the wrist.
Excellent Legibility Day and Night
To ensure optimal readability even in the dark, the hands and numerals are coated with Super-LumiNova®. This luminescent material ensures that the time can be easily read in all lighting conditions.
Iconic Predecessors and Historically Significant Models
The roots of the PIONEER collection reach deep into Hanhart's history. The Caliber 42 model, a column-wheel chronograph with flyback function and manual winding, was developed in the 1950s. It served as the basis for the famous Hanhart Chronographs 417 and 417 ES, which were produced specifically for the German Air Force (Bundeswehr). These chronographs, often known as "Bundeswehr Chronographs," were manufactured in limited quantities: about 500 brass and 500 stainless steel pieces, making them coveted collector's items today.
A Piece of Military History for the Wrist
Hanhart chronographs were not only popular in the German armed forces but also served as aesthetic models for numerous military and pilot watches from other renowned manufacturers. With the PIONEER TachyTele, Hanhart continues this tradition by combining classic design with modern technical features. A perfect companion for lovers of vintage watches who also appreciate maximum functionality.
This combination of historical precision and contemporary technology makes the Hanhart PIONEER TachyTele a watch that impresses in every respect. Whether in the cockpit, in the office, or during leisure time – this model is an expression of style, tradition, and functionality.

FAQs
About David from WATCHDAVID
My name is David, and I've been deeply involved with watches for many years – not just as a dealer, but primarily as a tester, photographer, and classifier.
Since 2018, I’ve been running WATCHDAVID as an independent watch project featuring reviews, videos, and real-world wearing experiences. Many of the watches you'll find here have been on my own wrist – often for extended periods.
WATCHDAVID.SHOP is intentionally personal. I only sell watches that I genuinely stand behind – no anonymous mass-produced goods, no dropshipping, no "quick trends." Experience, transparency, and honest assessment are paramount to me.
And yes: I am not an anonymous seller. I enjoy good food, sneakers, and photography – and I have a proven weakness for Kinder Chocolate.
If you have any questions or are unsure, feel free to contact me directly. I will respond personally.
Shipping & Insurance
Within Germany and the EU, shipping is free of charge. Shipping is handled by DHL and insured up to €500, €2,500 or €25,000, depending on the watch's value. The watches are therefore always sufficiently insured.
You can find the delivery time in the description and/or below the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after an order is placed, while others are brand new and, for example, will only be available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...
Revocation & Return Shipping
You can revoke your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.
I will cover the return shipping costs for you.
IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself; I will send you the free return label.
To do this, please simply contact me. david@watchdavid.com
It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of any signs of wear. After a successful inspection, I will refund the purchase price to you. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.
Authenticity & Condition of the Watches
I guarantee that all watches I offer are exclusively new, original goods. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly state otherwise (e.g., so-called PHOTO WATCHES).
As an official dealer, I exclusively offer authentic products. These are offered in their original packaging, with a warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in a so-called Full Set. Some deliver more, some less...
Warranty & Service
All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which is usually two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.
Should a warranty claim arise, I will take care of shipping the watch to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and will also organize its return to you. In addition, I will handle all communication with the manufacturer, so you don't have to worry about anything.
Even after the warranty period has expired, I will remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.

I usually answer every inquiry within 24 hours at the latest. On weekends, it may take a little longer. As a rule, I reply within a few minutes or hours.
Something can also slip through for me. Or the technology isn't working as it should. Feel free to contact me again. david@watchdavid.com
