A Watch with History: The Origin of the SAR-D
In the early 2000s, a very special model found its way onto the wrists of Canadian SAR technicians (Search and Rescue). With the introduction of the 41mm SAR-D, a new era began in the development of robust mission watches, specifically tailored to the demanding requirements of rescue teams. This watch was characterized by its mil-spec Type I dial – equipped with a cyclops date and fully luminous, geometric hour markers. These ensured optimal readability, even in extremely poor lighting conditions or underwater.
Robustness Meets Functionality
From the outset, the SAR-D was more than just a time teller. It was designed to withstand challenging environments – be it at icy altitudes, during dark dives, or on night rescue missions. Special emphasis was placed on visibility: the luminous markers ensured a clear overview in any situation. Another practical detail was the included three-piece rubber strap set, which could be individually adjusted and guaranteed a secure fit even under heavy use.
Evolution to OSAR-D: Technically Optimized
With the OSAR-D – short for "Original Search and Rescue with Date" – the tradition of the SAR line is consistently continued and elevated to a new technical level. The watch has been revised not only visually but also functionally. At its heart is the reliable Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, which is equipped with the proven Incabloc® shock absorber system. This combination ensures precise performance and high resilience – even with strong impacts.
Detailed Improvements
In addition to the new movement, the readability concept has also been further optimized. The enlarged indices in combination with the advanced MaraGlo luminous system ensure even better night visibility. The cyclops over the date window has also been revised: with its 1.5x magnification, the date is now particularly clear to read. The watch thus remains a reliable companion – day and night, on land or in water.
Technical Features of the OSAR-D
The case is made of robust stainless steel (316L) and has been carefully brushed for a matte, non-reflective finish. The screw-down crown contributes to its high water resistance, as does its solid construction. The dial is protected by scratch-resistant sapphire glass, which ensures clear visibility even under heavy use. The unidirectional bezel with a 60-minute scale allows for precise dive time tracking – fitting for its impressive diving capability of up to 30 ATM.

My name is David, and I've been deeply involved with watches for many years – not just as a dealer, but primarily as a tester, photographer, and classifier.
Since 2018, I’ve been running WATCHDAVID as an independent watch project featuring reviews, videos, and real-world wearing experiences. Many of the watches you'll find here have been on my own wrist – often for extended periods.
WATCHDAVID.SHOP is intentionally personal. I only sell watches that I genuinely stand behind – no anonymous mass-produced goods, no dropshipping, no "quick trends." Experience, transparency, and honest assessment are paramount to me.
And yes: I am not an anonymous seller. I enjoy good food, sneakers, and photography – and I have a proven weakness for Kinder Chocolate.

Shipping & Insurance
Within Germany and the EU, shipping is free of charge. Shipping is handled by DHL and insured up to €500, €2,500 or €25,000, depending on the watch's value. The watches are therefore always sufficiently insured.
You can find the delivery time in the description and/or below the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after an order is placed, while others are brand new and, for example, will only be available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...
Revocation & Return Shipping
You can revoke your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.
I will cover the return shipping costs for you.
IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself; I will send you the free return label.

It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of any signs of wear. After a successful inspection, I will refund the purchase price to you. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.
Authenticity & Condition of the Watches
I guarantee that all watches I offer are exclusively new, original goods. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly state otherwise (e.g., so-called PHOTO WATCHES).
As an official dealer, I exclusively offer authentic products. These are offered in their original packaging, with a warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in a so-called Full Set. Some deliver more, some less...
Warranty & Service
All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which is usually two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.
Should a warranty claim arise, I will take care of shipping the watch to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and will also organize its return to you. In addition, I will handle all communication with the manufacturer, so you don't have to worry about anything.
Even after the warranty period has expired, I will remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.
