The Steel Navigator with Date (SSNAV-D) represents a completely redesigned evolution of the original Marathon Steel Navigator, which was first conceived in 1986 in collaboration with Kelly Air Force Base. This watch was specifically designed for pilots, paratroopers, and adventurers, and it impresses with a combination of robust construction and high precision. With a diameter of 41 mm, the SSNAV-D presents itself as a reliable companion, offering remarkable accuracy of ± 10 seconds per year thanks to its ETA F06.412 HeavyDrive-PreciDrive quartz movement – a milestone in the history of the Steel Navigator series. Robust Case and Ergonomic Design

The SSNAV-D's case is made of high-quality 316L surgical stainless steel, which not only provides an appealing look but also the necessary robustness. The watch is equipped with a screw-down crown, which, together with the synthetic sapphire crystal, ensures water resistance up to 10 ATM (equivalent to 100 meters depth). This makes the Steel Navigator ideally suited for diving or wet conditions. The case design has been modernized and features a tapered bezel that is ergonomically shaped, guaranteeing a comfortable fit on the wrist – an important advantage for daily use.

Practical Bezel Functions

A particularly practical feature of the bezel is its 12-hour GMT function, whose raised height provides a better grip. This allows it to be rotated effortlessly in both directions, even when pilots are wearing thick flight gloves. The inlaid, painted indices on the bezel also significantly improve the readability of the markings, making operation easier under all conditions.

Optimal Visibility in Darkness

Self-illuminating Tritium gas tubes, applied to all hour markers and to the hour and minute hands, ensure optimal visibility in dark or poorly lit environments. Unlike conventional photoluminescent paint, tritium tubes do not fade over time, as they contain a hydrogen isotope that constantly emits light. This ensures the watch remains perfectly legible at all times of day and night.

Crystal Clear and Pressure Resistant

The dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, which not only provides clear visibility but also withstands extreme changes in air pressure – an essential feature for pilots operating at altitudes above 5,000 feet.
