All about the MARATHON Blue Yonder SSNAV-D Steel Navigator Quartz WW194013SS

A legend of operational time: The MARATHON Blue Yonder

With the Blue Yonder, Marathon presents a modern reinterpretation of a classic originally developed in 1986 in close collaboration with Kelly Air Force Base. This revised version of the “Steel Navigator” stays true to its military roots but relies on modern materials and technology to more than meet today's demands. The model is not only a toolwatch in the best sense but also a piece of living history – robust, ready for action, and uncompromisingly functional.

Swiss precision at the heart

At the center is a precise quartz movement from ETA in Grenchen – the ETA F06.412, equipped with the advanced technologies HeavyDrive and PreciDrive. These ensure exceptional timekeeping stability, even under strong shocks or sudden impacts. The energy is used efficiently, and the deviation remains minimal – an essential feature for use under demanding conditions.

Robust case for every mission

The case is made of high-quality 316L stainless steel, which has been additionally made corrosion-resistant by a process called parkerizing, a phosphate conversion coating. The matte surface not only reduces light reflection but also emphasizes the tactical look of the watch. With water resistance up to 10 ATM (100 meters), the Blue Yonder remains a reliable companion even in water.

Optimal readability by day and night

The deep blue dial offers clear, high-contrast readability. In addition to the classic 12-hour display, a 24-hour scale is also integrated – perfect for military or international use. Particularly noteworthy is the use of tritium tubes for illumination: these ensure permanent readability without external light sources, whether during night flights or in operations under difficult lighting conditions. The hour, minute, and second hands are also equipped with tritium and guarantee consistent, long-lasting luminosity.

Technical equipment with military standards

The bezel is bidirectionally rotatable and finely graduated with 90 clicks. Together with the screw-down crown, it offers a high level of functionality and security. The scratch-resistant sapphire crystal effectively protects the dial from damage and contributes to the overall durability of the watch.

Wearing comfort and versatility

With a diameter of 41 mm and a case height of only 11.5 mm, the Blue Yonder wears pleasantly compact despite its robust construction. The 20 mm lug width allows for a quick change between different strap variants – depending on the purpose or personal taste. Marathon offers, among others, a ballistic nylon strap, a DEFSTAN nylon strap, or a three-piece rubber strap kit. The stainless steel pin buckle is additionally coated with black IP, rounding off the military-technical look.

Decades of experience for the highest demands

Since 1941, Marathon has been supplying the allied forces with reliable timekeeping devices. The fourth generation of the founding family continues this tradition with a clear commitment to quality and precision. Each watch is crafted with the utmost care and undergoes strict quality controls before being put into use – whether in civilian everyday life or in a military environment. Marathon stands not only for technical competence but also for customer support that consistently reflects the high standards of the brand.

Conclusion: More than a watch

The Blue Yonder is therefore much more than just a timekeeper – it is a tool, a symbol of reliability, and a genuine piece of ready-to-use watchmaking art "Made in Switzerland".

FAQs

About me

My name is David, I was born in the late 60s in NRW, now live and work in the beautiful Harz Mountains, and have been running this watch shop, among other things, since spring 2022.

Since 2018, I have also been running my watch blog watchdavid.de, which features hundreds of reviews and watch news. Since then, I have taken thousands of professional watch photos for over 100 watch brands. Many photos can be found in my reviews. I am known worldwide for this.

As a result, I naturally had thousands of watches in my hands. And with this shop, I want to bring you closer to watches that have convinced me in many ways.

So come along on a journey full of watches... off the mainstream... and if you have a question, please feel free to ask me anytime via the form, chat, WhatsApp, email or phone.

I am very much looking forward to meeting you.

PS: My hobbies & passions include the internet (first agency already in 1996), Denmark, France's coasts (Brittany, Normandy & Côte d’Azur), hiking, e-MTB, sales (Bachelor of Sales) and photography.

My Achilles' heel includes children's chocolate, good food, sneakers & of course watches... :-)

Shipping & Insurance

Within Germany and the EU, I ship free of charge. Shipping is done via DHL and insured up to 500€, 2,500€, or 25,000€, depending on the watch value. The watches are thus always sufficiently insured.

The delivery time can be found in the description and/or under the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after ordering, others are brand new and, for example, only available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...

Cancellation & Return Shipping

You can cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.

I will cover the costs for the return shipping for you.

IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself, I will send you the free return label.

Please simply contact me for this. david@watchdavid.com

It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of signs of use. After successful inspection, I will refund you the purchase price. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.

Authenticity & Condition of the Watches

I guarantee you that all watches I offer are exclusively new original products. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly point this out (e.g. so-called PHOTO WATCHES).

As an official dealer, I offer you exclusively authentic products. These are offered in the original packaging, with warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in the so-called full set. One delivers more, another less...

Warranty & Service

All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which usually lasts two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.

If a warranty case occurs, I will take care of the shipping to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and also organize the return shipment to you. In addition, I handle all communication with the manufacturer so that you don't have to worry about anything.

Even after the warranty period has expired, I remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.

No response received?

You wrote to me via the contact form, through the price proposal, directly by email, chat, but you haven't received a reply?

Then please check your SPAM folder! Many providers are getting crazier and pushing more and more into spam.

I usually answer every inquiry within 24 hours at the latest. On weekends, it can sometimes take a bit longer. As a rule, I respond within a few minutes or hours.

Something can slip past me sometimes too. Or the technology doesn't work as it should. Feel free to write to me again at david@watchdavid.com

Mechanics - Sometimes things can happen there too

Before I ship your order, I carefully check each watch for visible defects.

If a problem should occur, such as damage during transport, please inform me immediately. I will do everything possible to quickly find a solution and ensure that you are satisfied.

My goal is to offer you not only high-quality products but also a first-class shopping experience. I look forward to welcoming you as a satisfied customer!
