Return of a Pioneer

The C-1000 Yellow is more than a reissue: it reactivates a true chapter of dive watch history and brings the bold DNA of the 1960s back to the wrist. OW has delved deep into the archives to reconstruct the distinctive, easy-to-read yellow variant of the historic Caribbean model, thereby restoring an iconic look once familiar to professional divers and military units.

Visibility Underwater

The luminous yellow of the dial is not just a design gimmick but a functional choice: in shallow zones the color stands out, while at greater depths it tends toward a light gray shade, increasing the contrast with the matte black hands and indices. Together with the oversized, triangular main markers, this creates legibility that works reliably even in pitch-dark depths.

Case and Proportions

The characterful 39.5-millimeter case with the shortened lugs affectionately called “vampire fangs” by collectors stays true to the original but has been optimized for modern use: satin-finished surfaces meet polished chamfers, the lug-to-lug length and construction ensure a confident fit on the wrist that tangibly conveys the robust heritage.

Technology, Chronometer Standard

Inside ticks the OW proprietary Soprod Newton Precision P092, a joint product with the Jura manufacturer, which in the regulated version offers the necessary robustness — and is optionally available as a COSC-certified example. This movement represents the combination of Swiss precision and everyday reliability that professional users expect.

Dive Suitability and Protection

The C-1000 Y carries the technical signature of its name: pressure-tested to 1,000 meters, with a massive, domed sapphire crystal and screw-down crown, it remains true to its professional profile as a genuine tool watch. This construction is not a style exercise but the consistent continuation of a concept that was already groundbreaking in the 1960s.

Straps for Use and Style

Included is a robust black RAF-style one-piece strap with engraved OWZ buckle; additionally, optional straps are available: the striking Cadmium Yellow nylon RAF, the finely linked M-Heritage mesh, and the expedition-ready rubber with map and conversion scale. This allows the watch to be quickly adapted depending on the purpose or taste.

Craftsmanship and Details

The screwed case back bears the historic wagon crest, deeply embossed and finely combined from polished and satin-finished surfaces — a small masterpiece of surface work. Such details document that the reissue aims to honor the heritage not only visually but also in manufacturing quality.

Cadmium Yellow Nylon RAF Strap

The striking cadmium yellow nylon RAF strap, which was very popular with the 2024 Limited Edition C-1000 ANNIVERSARY Edition, recalls the yellow neoprene suits of the test divers Alberto Novelli and Cesare Olgjai from Ollech & Wajs.

M-Heritage Strap

A 20 mm wide, medium-strong stainless steel mesh strap, hand-brushed, with reinforced ends and a pin buckle engraved with OW. This comfortable strap not only emphasizes the vintage character but also gives the watch a touch of rugged elegance.

“Expedition” Rubber Strap

This strap is a tribute to the explorers who tested the original OW Caribbean 1000 in the Red Sea and the North Atlantic under the frozen Arctic ice pack. A 20 mm wide, abrasion-resistant, deformation-resistant, heat- and oil-resistant, non-toxic rubber strap. With embossed centimeter and inch scales and a cartographic scale of 1:25000. Morse code and conversion table for meters, yards, and feet. Made by the Italian rubber specialist and hand-finished in Switzerland, with two brushed stainless steel keepers and a pin buckle signed “OWZ 1956.”

FAQs

About me

My name is David, I was born in the late 60s in NRW, now live and work in the beautiful Harz Mountains, and have been running this watch shop, among other things, since spring 2022.

Since 2018, I have also been running my watch blog watchdavid.de, which features hundreds of reviews and watch news. Since then, I have taken thousands of professional watch photos for over 100 watch brands. Many photos can be found in my reviews. I am known worldwide for this.

As a result, I naturally had thousands of watches in my hands. And with this shop, I want to bring you closer to watches that have convinced me in many ways.

So come along on a journey full of watches... off the mainstream... and if you have a question, please feel free to ask me anytime via the form, chat, WhatsApp, email or phone.

I am very much looking forward to meeting you.

PS: My hobbies & passions include the internet (first agency already in 1996), Denmark, France's coasts (Brittany, Normandy & Côte d’Azur), hiking, e-MTB, sales (Bachelor of Sales) and photography.

My Achilles' heel includes children's chocolate, good food, sneakers & of course watches... :-)

Shipping & Insurance

Within Germany and the EU, I ship free of charge. Shipping is done via DHL and insured up to 500€, 2,500€, or 25,000€, depending on the watch value. The watches are thus always sufficiently insured.

The delivery time can be found in the description and/or under the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after ordering, others are brand new and, for example, only available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...

Cancellation & Return Shipping

You can cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.

I will cover the costs for the return shipping for you.

IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself, I will send you the free return label.

Please simply contact me for this. david@watchdavid.com

It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of signs of use. After successful inspection, I will refund you the purchase price. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.

Authenticity & Condition of the Watches

I guarantee you that all watches I offer are exclusively new original products. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly point this out (e.g. so-called PHOTO WATCHES).

As an official dealer, I offer you exclusively authentic products. These are offered in the original packaging, with warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in the so-called full set. One delivers more, another less...

Warranty & Service

All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which usually lasts two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.

If a warranty case occurs, I will take care of the shipping to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and also organize the return shipment to you. In addition, I handle all communication with the manufacturer so that you don't have to worry about anything.

Even after the warranty period has expired, I remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.

Something can slip past me sometimes too. Or the technology doesn't work as it should. Feel free to write to me again at david@watchdavid.com

Mechanics - Sometimes things can happen there too

Before I ship your order, I carefully check each watch for visible defects.
