All about the Ollech & Wajs OW 8001 TUNDRA COSC-Certified

Introducing the OW 8001 Tundra: A Nordic Masterpiece

In 2023, Ollech & Wajs launched its first sports watch with an integrated bracelet in fifty years, the 8001 Chronometer. Now, in 2025, the next evolution arrives: the OW 8001 Tundra. This exceptional timepiece combines Nordic design elements with the brutal, functional style of the original 8001. The inspiration for the Tundra comes from a close collaboration with the renowned Norwegian architectural studio MIR, based in Bergen. MIR is known for its groundbreaking CGI work that explores the interplay of architecture and nature. Together with Ollech & Wajs, the studio developed a bespoke version of the 8001, produced exclusively for the community of MIR artists and designers.

3-Year Warranty

The original "MIR Watch" was an extremely limited model and generated enormous interest, prompting Ollech & Wajs to make this unique aesthetic accessible to a wider audience. The result is the new OW 8001 Tundra, named after the rugged Nordic landscape that inspired it.

A Design That Unites Movement and Nature

The OW 8001 Tundra features an organic, green fumé dial framed by an impressive, finely crafted stainless steel bezel ring. The radial structure engraved into the brushed stainless steel creates a play of light and shadow, making the watch appear vibrant. This detail reflects Nordic architecture, which often incorporates natural elements such as fjords, forests, or mountains into its design.

The robust case construction remains true to the heritage of the original 8001, while the clean lines and precise craftsmanship emphasize the modern interpretation. The tonneau-shaped case measures 39.5 mm in width and 12.7 mm in height and is made of durable 316L stainless steel.

Ultimate Precision Within

However, what truly sets the OW 8001 Tundra apart from other sports watches is what lies within. The heart of the watch is a chronometer-certified version of the Soprod Newton Precision P092. This automatic movement with date display has been specially adapted for Ollech & Wajs and impresses with its exceptional precision and durability. With a 44-hour power reserve, 23 jewels, and a frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour, it meets the highest Swiss quality standards.

Each movement has been individually tested and carries a unique COSC serial number engraved on the main plate. This engraving guarantees that the movement has passed the stringent tests of the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres. Additionally, the movement has been tested for longevity by Laboratoire Dubois in La Chaux-de-Fonds and awarded the Chronofiable® certificate.

My personal view on the Ollech & Wajs OW 8001 TUNDRA COSC-Certified

David Drilling Fazit

"Die Fotos haben mich ja schon angemacht, in live ist die Uhr aber nochmal cooler. Sehr schön Maskulin, tolle Kannten, und dieses grün.... WOW. Die Kooperation mit MIR hat sich wirklich gelohnt. Die limitierte Variante mit dem MIR Schriftzug auf dem Blatt finde ich fast noch besser, noch mehr unique... COSC Chronometer mit Chronofiable®-Zertifikat ... mich macht diese Uhr ziemlich an."

FAQs

About David from WATCHDAVID

My name is David, and I've been deeply involved with watches for many years – not just as a dealer, but primarily as a tester, photographer, and classifier.

Since 2018, I’ve been running WATCHDAVID as an independent watch project featuring reviews, videos, and real-world wearing experiences. Many of the watches you'll find here have been on my own wrist – often for extended periods.

WATCHDAVID.SHOP is intentionally personal. I only sell watches that I genuinely stand behind – no anonymous mass-produced goods, no dropshipping, no "quick trends." Experience, transparency, and honest assessment are paramount to me.

And yes: I am not an anonymous seller. I enjoy good food, sneakers, and photography – and I have a proven weakness for Kinder Chocolate.

If you have any questions or are unsure, feel free to contact me directly. I will respond personally.

Shipping & Insurance

Within Germany and the EU, shipping is free of charge. Shipping is handled by DHL and insured up to €500, €2,500 or €25,000, depending on the watch's value. The watches are therefore always sufficiently insured.

You can find the delivery time in the description and/or below the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after an order is placed, while others are brand new and, for example, will only be available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...

Revocation & Return Shipping

You can revoke your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.

I will cover the return shipping costs for you.

IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself; I will send you the free return label.

To do this, please simply contact me. david@watchdavid.com

It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of any signs of wear. After a successful inspection, I will refund the purchase price to you. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.

Authenticity & Condition of the Watches

I guarantee that all watches I offer are exclusively new, original goods. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly state otherwise (e.g., so-called PHOTO WATCHES).

As an official dealer, I exclusively offer authentic products. These are offered in their original packaging, with a warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in a so-called Full Set. Some deliver more, some less...

Warranty & Service

All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which is usually two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.

Should a warranty claim arise, I will take care of shipping the watch to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and will also organize its return to you. In addition, I will handle all communication with the manufacturer, so you don't have to worry about anything.

Even after the warranty period has expired, I will remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.

I usually answer every inquiry within 24 hours at the latest. On weekends, it may take a little longer. As a rule, I reply within a few minutes or hours.
