All about the OLLECH & WAJS OW EARLY BIRD

In 1964, the Ollech & Wajs Precision Caribbean 1000 set the standard by which all other dive watches had to be measured, with a certified record-setting deep diving capability of 1,000m (3,300ft). The greatest advance in the development of the dive watch was due in part to the revolutionary 702 monocoque case with its distinctive pointed lugs.

It was worn by commercial and military divers, and tested by oceanographers in the Red Sea, the North Atlantic, and beneath the frozen Arctic ice. For the 60th anniversary of the Caribbean 1000, which made history in dive watches, we have created a special C-1000 edition that reinterprets several design elements of the iconic original reference.

The C-1000 A anniversary edition recalls the distinctive, truncated triangular lugs, affectionately dubbed ‘vampire teeth’ by collectors. Caribbean 1000 enthusiasts will also appreciate the familiar tapered hour and minute hands, and the 12-hour bi-directional bezel with a 20-minute dive scale, also inspired by the original. The C-1000 A is as water-resistant as its predecessor, but achieves this with the convenience of a screwed-down case back, thanks to advances in materials and manufacturing.

The C-1000 A is presented on a striking RAF nylon strap in cadmium yellow, reminiscent of the yellow trim of the 60s diving suits worn by daring divers such as Ollech & Wajs test divers Alberto Novelli and Cesare Olgjai.

The first 56 watches will be numbered crown editions and will also be equipped with the always reliable ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, OW's last remaining stock.

After that, the C-1000 A will be powered by the groundbreaking Soprod Newton Precision, the result of close collaboration between OW and the Jura-based movement manufacturer.

The M-Heritage stainless steel mesh bracelet can be purchased as an additional accessory for 126 CHF (= €132.13). The watch also comes with a handcrafted, soft black leather travel case embossed with the OW logo.

My personal view on the OLLECH & WAJS OW EARLY BIRD

David Drilling Fazit

About David from WATCHDAVID

Behind WATCHDAVID.SHOP, I, David Drilling, stand as a true watch enthusiast, watch photographer, and independent tester. Since 2018, I have been providing honest wear reports on my channels. In my shop, I exclusively sell watches whose quality and history I have personally verified. No anonymous mass-produced goods, but personal expertise.

Shipping & No Import Charges

Shipping within Germany and the EU is completely free for you and fully insured via DHL or FedEx Express. Important for you: There are guaranteed to be no import duties, taxes or hidden fees. The exact delivery time for your model will always be transparently displayed directly above the "Buy" button.

Cancellations & Free Returns

You can easily cancel your purchase within 14 days. Unlike other retailers, I will cover the full cost of your return shipping within the EU. Simply send me a short email to david@watchdavid.com and I will send you your free DHL return label. It doesn't get any more risk-free than that.

Authenticity & Condition of the Watches

I guarantee you 100% that all watches offered are unworn, brand new original goods. In the shop, I strictly differentiate between regular new goods directly from the manufacturer and exclusive photo watches. Photo watches are models that I have used for my videos or photos, or that come from a return. I sell them absolutely honestly as used and significantly reduced – but the full manufacturer's warranty only begins on the day of your purchase!

Warranty & David's "All-Round Carefree Service"

Every watch comes with the full, international manufacturer's warranty (at least 2 years). In the event of a warranty claim, you'll have absolutely no stress: I'll handle all communication with the brand and organize insured round-trip shipping for you. Even after the warranty period expires, I remain your personal point of contact for service inquiries.

Quality Control

Mechanical watches are fascinating masterpieces. Before dispatch, each watch undergoes a thorough optical and mechanical final inspection. Should a problem ever arise despite our secure transport protection, please inform me immediately by email. I will promptly arrange for a quick, uncomplicated replacement.
