Venice is naturally a chimera. A city built on water – in a place where it should not actually exist. Born from the ability to unite seemingly incompatible things and create structure, balance, and permanence from them. Its symbol, the winged lion, also embodies this fusion of different elements.

The Nereide Chimera takes up exactly this principle. It stands for experiment, transformation, and the harmonious connection of heterogeneous materials – realized in a limited edition of 500 pieces.

Iron Tiger – The Dial as a Living Structure

At the heart of the design is the dial made of Iron Tiger, an extraordinary natural material created from the combination of tiger’s eye, red jasper, and hematite. Three mineral components with different structures, colours, and properties merge into a layered, unpredictable surface.

Intense red tones, dark veins, and metallic reflections are distributed differently in each piece. Every dial is unique – shaped solely by the natural composition of the material. This synthesis of different elements is what gives the watch its name “Chimera.”

Myth & Material – The Symbolism of the Chimera

In mythology, the chimera is not a chaotic creature but a new, stable form born from the union of different natures. Its strength lies not in the individual parts but in the balance between them.

Applied to this project, the chimera stands for the ability to overcome boundaries and bring together materials that were originally not meant for each other. Thus, the dial becomes a metaphor for Venice itself – a city and a symbol that creates harmony from opposites.

Craftsmanship Precision – Selection and Processing

The dials are made from carefully selected Iron Tiger slabs. Each fragment is individually inspected – regarding colour gradient, layering, and structural stability. Only pieces with balanced grain, contrast, and integrity are further processed.

The slices are reduced to about 0.4 mm thickness, while maintaining structural stability. A controlled polishing process brings out the contrasts between ferrous-red and golden hues before indices and details are applied. The result is a surface with depth, dynamism, and natural tension.

Case & Construction – Sporty Grace

The case is made of 316L stainless steel and measures 42 mm in diameter, with a lug-to-lug length of 49 mm and a total height of 12.5 mm.

An anti-reflective sapphire glass protects the dial. The bezel features a tungsten inlay, which is polished and especially scratch-resistant – with a hardness of 9 out of 10 on the Mohs scale.

With a water resistance of 20 ATM (200 meters / 656 ft), the Nereide Chimera remains a true sporty watch that combines grace and performance.

Mechanical Heart – Sellita SW200-1

The Nereide Chimera is powered by the Swiss Made Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement. It is complemented by a specially developed, skeletonised rotor that combines functionality and aesthetic identity.

The rotor is decorated with radial Côtes de Genève, has chamfered edges, and is galvanically treated in 3N red gold. The exhibition case back reveals the movement and underscores the mechanical substance of this timepiece.

For optimal readability in darkness, BGW9 Super-LumiNova® from Switzerland is used.

Limited Edition & Packaging

The Nereide Chimera is released in a limited run of 500 pieces.

The packaging also picks up the concept: it takes up the intense red of the Iron Tiger stone and graphically refers to the connection between the Lion of Saint Mark and the dial material. The box thus becomes part of the product’s identity and consistently continues the theme of the chimera as a fusion of different elements.

New FKM Strap – Technical Performance

For this edition, a new FKM rubber strap was developed. This high-performance material stands for resilience, stability, and lasting wearing comfort. The dark red colour echoes the dominant hues of the dial and packaging and completes the consistent colour identity of the project.
