The Nereide Corallo runs on the Sellita SW200-1 caliber, a movement known for its reliability and accuracy. The specially designed rotor combines technical performance and visual elegance. It is skeletonized to showcase the movement and features a radial Geneva stripes pattern, giving it a sophisticated structure and depth. The angled openings highlight the metal properly, while the 3N gold galvanization emphasizes the geometry and details – a tribute to the color that symbolizes our heritage.

The trade in red coral flourished in the Mediterranean since antiquity, found on the coasts of Sardinia, Tunisia, and Spain. As a symbol of wealth and protection, it was crafted into jewelry and ornaments and highly valued in European courts for its vibrant color and unique grain. We have developed a unique artisanal technique that sets us apart from common industry practices, which often favor uniform, homogeneous dials. Our process begins with the careful assembly of coral fragments, skillfully arranged into a larger, cohesive block using a mosaic composition technique. This approach preserves the natural diversity of the material and highlights the uniqueness of each piece. Subsequently, the coral is precisely cut using a waterjet technique, which maintains the integrity of the material and avoids cracks or imperfections. Finally, each dial undergoes an intricate polishing process, giving it the refined, high-quality finish characteristic of fine coral jewelry.

Symbol of power and prosperity

The connection between Venice and coral is beautifully depicted in Giambattista Tiepolo's fresco "Neptune Offering Gifts to Venice," a tribute to the strength of the Serenissima. In the artwork, Neptune, the god of the sea, symbolically offers corals to the city, representing both the economic prosperity and naval power of the Republic of Venice. The fresco, which once adorned the walls of the Doge's Palace, is a testament to Venice's central role in the coral trade. Within this rich historical context, the art of coral processing flourished and developed into a highly valued and refined tradition.
