The history of the sea on your wrist

Venezianico Nereide Corallo

Wearing a watch with a coral dial is more than just a fashion statement – it is a journey through time that connects us with the beauty of the sea and the heritage of Venice, a city that has made coral one of its most prestigious symbols. With every glance at the wrist, one immerses oneself in a history spanning centuries: from the depths of the ocean, where corals slowly form, to the skilled hands of artisans who transform them into masterpieces. The natural veins and hues that adorn the surface of the corals tell of ancient traditions, maritime trade routes, and a culture that has long celebrated the harmony between nature and craftsmanship.

A special element that goes beyond precision

Venezianico Nereide Corallo

The Nereide Corallo runs on the Sellita SW200-1 caliber, a movement known for its reliability and accuracy. The specially designed rotor combines technical performance and visual elegance. It is skeletonized to showcase the movement and features a radial Geneva stripes pattern, giving it a sophisticated structure and depth. The angled openings highlight the metal properly, while the 3N gold galvanization emphasizes the geometry and details – a tribute to the color that symbolizes our heritage.

The red that enchanted centuries

The trade in red coral flourished in the Mediterranean since antiquity, found on the coasts of Sardinia, Tunisia, and Spain. As a symbol of wealth and protection, it was crafted into jewelry and ornaments and highly valued in European courts for its vibrant color and unique grain. Each piece told a story of exchange and tradition, connecting distant cultures and lands.

Unique craftsmanship of the Venezianico Nereide Corallo

Venezianico Nereide Corallo

We have developed a unique artisanal technique that sets us apart from common industry practices, which often favor uniform, homogeneous dials. Our process begins with the careful assembly of coral fragments, skillfully arranged into a larger, cohesive block using a mosaic composition technique. This approach preserves the natural diversity of the material and highlights the uniqueness of each piece. Subsequently, the coral is precisely cut using a waterjet technique, which maintains the integrity of the material and avoids cracks or imperfections. Finally, each dial undergoes an intricate polishing process, giving it the refined, high-quality finish characteristic of fine coral jewelry.

Symbol of power and prosperity

Venezianico Nereide Corallo

The connection between Venice and coral is beautifully depicted in Giambattista Tiepolo's fresco "Neptune Offering Gifts to Venice," a tribute to the strength of the Serenissima. In the artwork, Neptune, the god of the sea, symbolically offers corals to the city, representing both the economic prosperity and naval power of the Republic of Venice. The fresco, which once adorned the walls of the Doge's Palace, is a testament to Venice's central role in the coral trade. Within this rich historical context, the art of coral processing flourished and developed into a highly valued and refined tradition.

My personal view on the Venezianico Nereide Corallo - Order NOW

David Drilling Fazit

"Im letzten Jahr gab es ja bereits eine orangene Nereide... Fast ein Jahr später kommt wieder so ein Kracher, diesmal mit etwas mehr Rottönen, bedingt durch die rote Koralle. WOW, was für ein Zifferblatt. Und jedes ist anders. Richtig Klasse. Die Nereide selbst muss sich nicht mehr beweisen, hat sie das bereits in zahlreichen Modellvarianten getan. Und beim Kaliber bleibt alles beim altbewährten Sellita SW 200. Der erste Batch über 500 Stück dürfte schnell ausverkauft sein, schnell sein wird sich lohnen, sonst wartet man wieder ewig... "

About David from WATCHDAVID

My name is David, and I've been deeply involved with watches for many years – not just as a dealer, but primarily as a tester, photographer, and classifier.

Since 2018, I’ve been running WATCHDAVID as an independent watch project featuring reviews, videos, and real-world wearing experiences. Many of the watches you'll find here have been on my own wrist – often for extended periods.

WATCHDAVID.SHOP is intentionally personal. I only sell watches that I genuinely stand behind – no anonymous mass-produced goods, no dropshipping, no "quick trends." Experience, transparency, and honest assessment are paramount to me.

And yes: I am not an anonymous seller. I enjoy good food, sneakers, and photography – and I have a proven weakness for Kinder Chocolate.

If you have any questions or are unsure, feel free to contact me directly. I will respond personally.

I guarantee that all watches I offer are exclusively new, original goods. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly state otherwise (e.g., so-called PHOTO WATCHES).

As an official dealer, I exclusively offer authentic products. These are offered in their original packaging, with a warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in a so-called Full Set. Some deliver more, some less...
