It is said that the name "Aventurine" was derived in the 17th century from the term "avventura", which indicates an unsafe and risky process. From 1644 the manufacturing technique was codified, and the Venetian aventurine artifacts soon became the most valued of their time. The lithograph shows a visit by the Doge to the workshops on the island of Murano, the area in which this glass was produced.
