All about the Vintage VDB E23 Historical Bronze Diver's Watch

Everything about the Vintage VDB E23 Historical Bronze Diver's Watch, which impresses with a dark green dial and a leather and rubber strap.

The E23 Historical Bronze embodies exactly what VDB (the abbreviation, by the way, stands for the apt designation Vintage Daily Beater) is all about: a striking, masculine design, trimmed to the unmistakable vintage look. Round, in a figurative sense, but still somehow with edges and corners. VDB has incorporated its roots into its name. The 'E' stands for Erfurt, where the brand was founded.

The Movement of the Vintage VDB E23 Historical Bronze Diver's Watch

When it comes to the movement, VDB takes no chances and chooses no less a movement than the famous ETA 2824-2. This Swiss automatic movement with its sonorous name has been the top dog in the premium segment for decades. Even if some manufacture movements have now surpassed it in terms of power reserve, the 38 hours that the ETA offers are perfectly adequate for everyday use.

Features of the E23 Historical Bronze

The case finish of the Bronze makes an excellent impression, feels good, and conveys a special sense of quality despite (or precisely because of?) its used look.

As a diver's watch, the E23 Historical Bronze is water-resistant to depths of 500 meters, making it perfectly suited, also due to its unidirectionally rotating bezel, for at least semi-professional dives.

The VDB E23 Historical Bronze measures a substantial 46 millimeters in diameter. The lug-to-lug length is even 56 millimeters, and the height is 16 millimeters.

Matching the VDB E23 Historical Bronze is the leather strap, which impresses with its special characteristics of the numbers 33 and 17. In former times, diver's watches were assigned to specific combat swimmers. The number of these professionals was on the wristband.

My Conclusion:

David Drilling

"Actually, no final "proof" was needed as to why the decision to include VDB in my shop was a good and right one. The VDB E23 Historical Bronze II nevertheless delivered it. With its extraordinary yet timeless design and premium materials, it is a watch that stands out and whose confident appearance and presence remain in memory. There is no question that the E23 is a well-made watch. "

About David from WATCHDAVID

My name is David, and I've been deeply involved with watches for many years – not just as a dealer, but primarily as a tester, photographer, and classifier.

Since 2018, I’ve been running WATCHDAVID as an independent watch project featuring reviews, videos, and real-world wearing experiences. Many of the watches you'll find here have been on my own wrist – often for extended periods.

WATCHDAVID.SHOP is intentionally personal. I only sell watches that I genuinely stand behind – no anonymous mass-produced goods, no dropshipping, no "quick trends." Experience, transparency, and honest assessment are paramount to me.

And yes: I am not an anonymous seller. I enjoy good food, sneakers, and photography – and I have a proven weakness for Kinder Chocolate.

If you have any questions or are unsure, feel free to contact me directly. I will respond personally.

Shipping & Insurance

Within Germany and the EU, shipping is free of charge. Shipping is handled by DHL and insured up to €500, €2,500 or €25,000, depending on the watch's value. The watches are therefore always sufficiently insured.

You can find the delivery time in the description and/or below the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after an order is placed, while others are brand new and, for example, will only be available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...

Revocation & Return Shipping

You can revoke your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.

I will cover the return shipping costs for you.

IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself; I will send you the free return label.

To do this, please simply contact me. david@watchdavid.com

It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of any signs of wear. After a successful inspection, I will refund the purchase price to you. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.

Authenticity & Condition of the Watches

I guarantee that all watches I offer are exclusively new, original goods. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly state otherwise (e.g., so-called PHOTO WATCHES).

As an official dealer, I exclusively offer authentic products. These are offered in their original packaging, with a warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in a so-called Full Set. Some deliver more, some less...

Warranty & Service

All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which is usually two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.

Should a warranty claim arise, I will take care of shipping the watch to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and will also organize its return to you. In addition, I will handle all communication with the manufacturer, so you don't have to worry about anything.

Even after the warranty period has expired, I will remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.

I usually answer every inquiry within 24 hours at the latest. On weekends, it may take a little longer. As a rule, I reply within a few minutes or hours.
