All about the Vintage VDB Timer T Historical Steel 1,200m diving watch

Presence & Case

The case with its striking dimensions of 48 × 57 × 20 mm immediately occupies space on the wrist and exudes a confident aura — not reserved, but deliberately present. Made of bronze, the volume of the case contributes to a noticeable weight on the arm and immediately conveys a sense of substance and durability to the wearer; the dimensions are chosen so that the watch functions as a statement without resorting to simple showmanship. Those looking for a watch that stands out equally through size and material will find a very direct, almost architectural design language here.

Surface & Maturity

Bronze as a material tells its own story: after a short wearing period, the surface begins to age and develops an individual patina that makes each piece unique. This natural darkening and the resulting tension fields of matte and shiny areas give the watch a lively appearance that gains character over time rather than showing signs of wear. At the same time, the material opens up creative possibilities: polished edges can contrast with aged surfaces, giving the design a depth effect that would not be possible in the same way with stainless steel.

Dial & Luminosity

The dial and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova, ensuring the watch remains quickly and reliably readable even in low light; at dusk, clear contrasts arise that make reading the time effortless. Unlike purely decorative dials, this luminous concept emphasizes function without sacrificing aesthetics: during the day, the dial remains legible and attractive, while at night the luminescence takes on the role of a reliable companion. This combination of visible design and practical readability makes the watch a dependable instrument that works in everyday life when you need it most.

Crown & Protection

The screw-down crown with crown guard is more than a mere formal detail; it is an expression of technical foresight that secures operation and protects the mechanics from unwanted interference. The crown guard reduces the risk of lateral impacts that can occur in exposed areas, and the screw-down design offers additional resistance against penetrating moisture — both advantages that prove themselves in rough everyday use. Ease of use is maintained: winding and setting are done with a direct, precise feel despite the protective mechanism.

Crystal & Durability

A hardened sapphire crystal protects the dial and ensures a clear view of the design — it is scratch-resistant and durable, so the optical clarity remains even after years of intensive wear. The choice of this material reflects the ambition to keep the watch beautiful and functional not only today but in the long term; sapphire combines transparency with durability and makes fine details permanently visible. This keeps readability consistent and the appearance fresh longer, which can be expected when using high-quality materials.

Movement & Precision

Inside works the proven ETA 2824-2, a Swiss automatic movement known for its robustness, ease of maintenance, and solid performance. This caliber stands for technical reliability — it is easy to service, can be regulated if needed, and offers a wide spare parts base, making long-term use realistic and economical. For collectors as well as pragmatic wearers, choosing such a movement is a statement in favor of a mechanical heart that can handle both everyday use and demands.

Straps & Versatility

The delivery includes a leather strap and a rubber strap, allowing the watch to stylishly transform from an elegant companion to a sporty all-rounder. The leather strap provides classic warmth and suits more formal situations, while the rubber strap offers robustness and comfort for active use; both ensure that the watch performs convincingly in various life situations. This strap combination makes the watch versatile and allows the owner to quickly and easily adapt its appearance to the occasion or mood.

Overall impression

Together, this creates the image of a powerful, solidly crafted timepiece that convinces with a distinctive presence, a warm material effect, and a solid Swiss movement. The combination of bronze, generous dimensions, and practical features such as a screwed crown, sapphire crystal, and luminous numerals targets users who want a watch that is clearly defined both visually and mechanically. Those who value personality, robust technology, and the ability to wear the watch comfortably both day and night — while appreciating the visible aging of the material as a nice side effect — will find a coherent and well-thought-out concept here.

FAQs

About me

My name is David, I was born in the late 60s in NRW, now live and work in the beautiful Harz Mountains, and have been running this watch shop, among other things, since spring 2022.

Since 2018, I have also been running my watch blog watchdavid.de, which features hundreds of reviews and watch news. Since then, I have taken thousands of professional watch photos for over 100 watch brands. Many photos can be found in my reviews. I am known worldwide for this.

As a result, I naturally had thousands of watches in my hands. And with this shop, I want to bring you closer to watches that have convinced me in many ways.

So come along on a journey full of watches... off the mainstream... and if you have a question, please feel free to ask me anytime via the form, chat, WhatsApp, email or phone.

I am very much looking forward to meeting you.

PS: My hobbies & passions include the internet (first agency already in 1996), Denmark, France's coasts (Brittany, Normandy & Côte d’Azur), hiking, e-MTB, sales (Bachelor of Sales) and photography.

My Achilles' heel includes children's chocolate, good food, sneakers & of course watches... :-)

Shipping & Insurance

Within Germany and the EU, I ship free of charge. Shipping is done via DHL and insured up to 500€, 2,500€, or 25,000€, depending on the watch value. The watches are thus always sufficiently insured.

The delivery time can be found in the description and/or under the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after ordering, others are brand new and, for example, only available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...

Cancellation & Return Shipping

You can cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.

I will cover the costs for the return shipping for you.

IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself, I will send you the free return label.

Please simply contact me for this. david@watchdavid.com

It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of signs of use. After successful inspection, I will refund you the purchase price. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.

Authenticity & Condition of the Watches

I guarantee you that all watches I offer are exclusively new original products. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly point this out (e.g. so-called PHOTO WATCHES).

As an official dealer, I offer you exclusively authentic products. These are offered in the original packaging, with warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in the so-called full set. One delivers more, another less...

Warranty & Service

All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which usually lasts two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.

If a warranty case occurs, I will take care of the shipping to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and also organize the return shipment to you. In addition, I handle all communication with the manufacturer so that you don't have to worry about anything.

Even after the warranty period has expired, I remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.

Something can slip past me sometimes too. Or the technology doesn't work as it should. Feel free to write to me again at david@watchdavid.com

Mechanics - Sometimes things can happen there too

Before I ship your order, I carefully check each watch for visible defects.

If a problem should occur, such as damage during transport, please inform me immediately. I will do everything possible to quickly find a solution and ensure that you are satisfied.
