Vintage VDB Timer T Historical Steel 1,200m diving watch
All about the Vintage VDB Timer T Historical Steel 1,200m diving watch
Presence & Case
The case with the distinctive dimensions 48 × 57 × 20 mm fills the wrist immediately and conveys a strong presence that can be seen and felt. These dimensions are not chosen by chance; they tell of a design that aims to make an impact: generously proportioned, with clear lines, so that the watch has a recognizable identity even from a distance. Wearers who prefer a bold statement on the arm will appreciate the confident appearance and the design consistency of this format.
Surface & Haptics
The matte, blasted stainless steel surface gives the timepiece a rougher, more technical appearance than polished steel; it plays with light in a restrained way and conceals small signs of wear without appearing cheap. Tactilely, the material conveys trust: the slightly textured surface feels robust and emphasizes the construction as a functional tool, not just as a piece of jewelry. Combined with precise edges and gently rounded lugs, this creates a play of aesthetics and practicality.
Dial & Legibility
On the dial, Super-LumiNova takes the lead by providing clear contrasts at dusk and in darkness, making the time easy to read; during the day, the design remains calm and well-proportioned so that the luminous material does not appear intrusive. The balance between decorative appeal and practical legibility is successful: markers and hands are designed to be quickly readable in any situation without disturbing the visual harmony. This relationship makes the watch a reliable companion that does not sacrifice functionality for design.

Mechanics & Performance
Inside beats the proven movement ETA 7750, a Swiss-made automatic caliber with chronograph function, appreciated for its robustness and service-friendliness; its construction allows precise timekeeping and long runtimes under normal usage conditions. Those seeking a mechanical heart that combines everyday suitability with mechanical substance will find a rational basis in this caliber: maintenance paths are established, spare parts are readily available, and the rate stability in practice is reliable. Thus, the interior combines technical maturity with tangible durability.
Crown, Protection & Operation
The crown is screwed down and complemented by a crown guard, which makes operation safer and protects the mechanics from lateral impacts; in practice, this feels both rational and reassuring. This solution prevents unintentional adjustments and increases resistance to water and dirt without unnecessarily impairing ergonomics: turning, pulling, and resetting work with a good grip and the necessary resistance expected from a robustly constructed instrument.
Glass & Resistance
The installed sapphire crystal ensures transparent clarity and high scratch resistance, so that fine dial details remain visible for a long time and the watch looks fresh even after intensive use. Due to its hardness, it efficiently protects the surface from everyday stresses while maintaining the dial's optical purity — a feature that pays off over years. Combined with the blasted surface, this results in a coherent overall impression of material durability and lasting aesthetics.
Straps & Versatility
The delivery includes a noble leather strap and a robust rubber strap, allowing the watch to quickly transform from a formal companion into a sporty everyday tool. The leather adds warmth and classic elegance, while the rubber strap provides comfort and durability during activities; the option to switch between both increases everyday suitability significantly. This strap combination opens many style variations without diluting the fundamental design principle.
Applications & Everyday Suitability
In practice, the model is suitable for everyday heroes who want a visible presence on the arm and still value technical reliability — whether for urban commuting, outdoor activities, or more formal occasions where the leather strap ensures restraint. The combination of a robust case, luminescent legibility, and the ETA caliber makes the watch a versatile companion that focuses more on utility than pure decoration. Only those with very delicate wrists should consider the volume beforehand, as the watch plays in a powerful league.
Overall Impression & Recommendation
The overall impression is that of a well-thought-out, solid timekeeper: generous dimensions, a durable, blasted stainless steel surface, clear legibility, and a solid Swiss chronograph movement together form a coherent package. For lovers of distinctive watches who value substance, everyday suitability, and mechanical authenticity, this model represents a worthwhile choice — a watch that in its combination of design and technology fully reminds one of its purpose.

FAQs
About me
My name is David, I was born in the late 60s in NRW, now live and work in the beautiful Harz Mountains, and have been running this watch shop, among other things, since spring 2022.
Since 2018, I have also been running my watch blog watchdavid.de, which features hundreds of reviews and watch news. Since then, I have taken thousands of professional watch photos for over 100 watch brands. Many photos can be found in my reviews. I am known worldwide for this.
As a result, I naturally had thousands of watches in my hands. And with this shop, I want to bring you closer to watches that have convinced me in many ways.
So come along on a journey full of watches... off the mainstream... and if you have a question, please feel free to ask me anytime via the form, chat, WhatsApp, email or phone.
I am very much looking forward to meeting you.
PS: My hobbies & passions include the internet (first agency already in 1996), Denmark, France's coasts (Brittany, Normandy & Côte d’Azur), hiking, e-MTB, sales (Bachelor of Sales) and photography.
My Achilles' heel includes children's chocolate, good food, sneakers & of course watches... :-)
Shipping & Insurance
Within Germany and the EU, I ship free of charge. Shipping is done via DHL and insured up to 500€, 2,500€, or 25,000€, depending on the watch value. The watches are thus always sufficiently insured.
The delivery time can be found in the description and/or under the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after ordering, others are brand new and, for example, only available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...
Cancellation & Return Shipping
You can cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.
I will cover the costs for the return shipping for you.
IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself, I will send you the free return label.
Please simply contact me for this. david@watchdavid.com
It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of signs of use. After successful inspection, I will refund you the purchase price. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.
Authenticity & Condition of the Watches
I guarantee you that all watches I offer are exclusively new original products. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly point this out (e.g. so-called PHOTO WATCHES).
As an official dealer, I offer you exclusively authentic products. These are offered in the original packaging, with warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in the so-called full set. One delivers more, another less...
Warranty & Service
All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which usually lasts two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.
If a warranty case occurs, I will take care of the shipping to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and also organize the return shipment to you. In addition, I handle all communication with the manufacturer so that you don't have to worry about anything.
Even after the warranty period has expired, I remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.

Then please check your SPAM folder! Many providers are getting crazier and pushing more and more into spam.
I usually answer every inquiry within 24 hours at the latest. On weekends, it can sometimes take a bit longer. As a rule, I respond within a few minutes or hours.
Something can slip past me sometimes too. Or the technology doesn't work as it should. Feel free to write to me again at david@watchdavid.com
Mechanics - Sometimes things can happen there too
Before I ship your order, I carefully check each watch for visible defects.
If a problem should occur, such as damage during transport, please inform me immediately. I will do everything possible to quickly find a solution and ensure that you are satisfied.
