All about the Vintage VDB Timer T Historical Steel 1,200m diving watch

Presence on the Wrist

With its striking dimensions, the watch immediately appears dominant and present — 48 × 57 × 20 mm is no subtle invitation but a deliberate statement. This volume claims the wrist, makes an impression, and emphasizes an aesthetic attitude that calls more for character than restraint. Those who want to wear a watch that is not overlooked in everyday life will find in these proportions exactly that expression: it is built to be seen and rewards the gaze with a clear, almost architectural presence.

Material & Finish

The case made of polished stainless steel plays with light and reflections without losing its seriousness; the shiny surface highlights edges and construction details, giving the piece an elegant touch. Combined with the robust volume, a tension arises between formal elegance and functional demand, granting the watch universal applicability — worn with a blazer as well as with jeans, it never seems out of place, but always confident.

Dial and Luminosity

The dial thrives on its clear readability, as Super-LumiNova on the numerals and hands ensures the watch reliably informs in twilight and at night. This luminous material is not only functional, it also structures the surface so that even in difficult lighting conditions, one immediately finds orientation. During the day, the design recedes quietly; in darkness, the luminosity takes center stage — a play of contrasts that elegantly combines everyday practicality and design intelligence.

Crown, protection, and operating comfort

The screw-down crown with integrated crown guard acts like a small technical insurance: it protects the movement from unintended interference and increases resistance to external influences. At the same time, the operation is designed so that winding and setting feel with well-measured resistance — not rough, but clearly noticeable. This combination of protective mechanics and ergonomics makes handling more reliable in everyday life and builds confidence in the timepiece's functional safety.

Glass & durability

Above the dial lies a sapphire crystal that guarantees long-term clarity and protection for the watch; the hardness of sapphire preserves fine details and prevents scratches that could blur the character over the years. This material is a statement for durability: it preserves the appearance, maintains readability, and ensures the watch still looks fresh even after intensive use. Such decisions in material choice show that value was placed on substance here.

Mechanics & functionality

Inside works the renowned ETA 7750, a Swiss-made automatic movement with chronograph function, known for robustness and precise timekeeping. This caliber not only brings technical substance but also a service infrastructure that supports long-term maintenance and reliability. For the wearer, this means: a genuine mechanical heart that handles everyday and more demanding scenarios equally well — a sensible foundation for a watch that can be put to the test.

Straps and versatility

The watch is delivered with a leather and rubber strap, allowing its character to quickly transform from an elegant companion to a sporty all-rounder. While the leather sets warmer, more classic accents, the rubber strap offers comfort and resilience during activity and moisture. This variety makes the watch flexible: you change the strap — and thus moodfully also the appearance — without any tools, depending on whether the occasion or daily schedule is more formal or active.

Overall impression

As a whole, the model presents itself as a powerfully thought-out construction: generous dimensions, glossy surfaces, clear luminous accents, robust glass, and a proven chronograph movement come together to form a statement watch that convinces both visually and technically. For lovers of distinctive timepieces who value presence, readability, and mechanical substance, this concept offers a confident combination of form and function — a watch that impresses equally in everyday life and special moments.

FAQs

About me

My name is David, I was born in the late 60s in NRW, now live and work in the beautiful Harz Mountains, and have been running this watch shop, among other things, since spring 2022.

Since 2018, I have also been running my watch blog watchdavid.de, which features hundreds of reviews and watch news. Since then, I have taken thousands of professional watch photos for over 100 watch brands. Many photos can be found in my reviews. I am known worldwide for this.

As a result, I naturally had thousands of watches in my hands. And with this shop, I want to bring you closer to watches that have convinced me in many ways.

So come along on a journey full of watches... off the mainstream... and if you have a question, please feel free to ask me anytime via the form, chat, WhatsApp, email or phone.

I am very much looking forward to meeting you.

PS: My hobbies & passions include the internet (first agency already in 1996), Denmark, France's coasts (Brittany, Normandy & Côte d’Azur), hiking, e-MTB, sales (Bachelor of Sales) and photography.

My Achilles' heel includes children's chocolate, good food, sneakers & of course watches... :-)

Shipping & Insurance

Within Germany and the EU, I ship free of charge. Shipping is done via DHL and insured up to 500€, 2,500€, or 25,000€, depending on the watch value. The watches are thus always sufficiently insured.

The delivery time can be found in the description and/or under the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after ordering, others are brand new and, for example, only available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...

Cancellation & Return Shipping

You can cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.

I will cover the costs for the return shipping for you.

IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself, I will send you the free return label.

Please simply contact me for this. david@watchdavid.com

It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of signs of use. After successful inspection, I will refund you the purchase price. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.

Authenticity & Condition of the Watches

I guarantee you that all watches I offer are exclusively new original products. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly point this out (e.g. so-called PHOTO WATCHES).

As an official dealer, I offer you exclusively authentic products. These are offered in the original packaging, with warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in the so-called full set. One delivers more, another less...

Warranty & Service

All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which usually lasts two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.

If a warranty case occurs, I will take care of the shipping to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and also organize the return shipment to you. In addition, I handle all communication with the manufacturer so that you don't have to worry about anything.

Even after the warranty period has expired, I remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.

Mechanics - Sometimes things can happen there too

Before I ship your order, I carefully check each watch for visible defects.
