VULCAIN Cricket Tradition 39 mm - Eggshell
All about the VULCAIN Cricket Tradition 39 mm - Eggshell
The return of an icon
With a polished 316L stainless steel case and a diameter of 39 millimeters, the new Vulcain Cricket presents itself as a timeless homage to the historic watch that made watch history in 1947. The combination of a slightly domed sapphire crystal, an "eggshell" colored dial surface, and polished gold-colored indices on a subtly curved dial creates a subtle yet elegant look. The silver-colored Dauphine hands are finely polished and emphasize the classic appearance.
Technical finesse in compact form
The 12.8 mm high case is optionally offered with a closed steel back or a sapphire crystal back, which allows a view of the elaborately decorated manufacture movement. The water resistance is 5 ATM, making the watch ideal for everyday use but not for diving. A stainless steel pin buckle and a strap connection width of 18 mm (tapered to 16 mm) ensure comfortable wear.
Watchmaking art at the highest level
Inside beats the hand-wound caliber Cricket V10 H0, which is entirely manufactured in the Vulcain workshop. This mechanical movement features two mainsprings, 25 jewels, and consists of a total of 165 components. With a frequency of 18,000 half oscillations per hour, it offers a power reserve of around 52 hours. The integrated alarm mechanism – the famous "Cricket" – sounds for about 20 seconds and is loud enough to reliably wake the wearer. Visually, the movement impresses with its nickel-coated finishing, blued screws, and skeletonized click wheels.
The birth of a legend
The story of Vulcain begins in 1858 amidst the Neuchâtel Mountains, the heart of Swiss watchmaking. The Ditisheim brothers, experienced watchmakers, founded a family business that quickly made a name for itself with particularly complicated timepieces such as minute repeaters, perpetual calendars, and striking mechanisms. The combination of craftsmanship and technical innovation made Vulcain an established name in watchmaking early on.
Fire as a symbol of drive
Named after the Roman god of fire, Vulcan, the brand symbolically stands for the creative glow and passion with which its timepieces are made. Just as the divine smith once united anvil and steel in his volcano, Vulcain continuously shapes new chapters on the foundation of its history – always driven by a fire that never goes out.
1947 – The wake-up call in watch history
With the introduction of the first wristwatch with an integrated alarm mechanism, Vulcain revolutionized the market in 1947. The Cricket was not only innovative, it was loud – so loud that it reliably woke its wearer from sleep. This unmistakable sound became the brand's trademark. The watch became the preferred companion of numerous US presidents such as Truman, Eisenhower, Nixon, and Johnson and soon earned the nickname “The President’s Watch.”
Stylish through all times
Whether sporty-casual or elegant in business attire – the modern Cricket suits every style. It slips elegantly under a cashmere sweater or blouse sleeve, peeks out from under the trench coat, or harmonizes with a fine silk scarf. Its design is deliberately gender-neutral, making it a versatile accessory for every occasion. With variants like the pistachio green edition, which aligns with current trends, Vulcain shows fashionable sensitivity without compromising on watchmaking craftsmanship.
Tradition anchored in the future
Today, the Vulcain manufacture is located in a historic estate in Le Locle – in the heart of the Swiss watch industry. For more than 150 years, the company has been producing mechanical watches at the highest level while always remaining true to its roots. The combination of technical perfection and the heritage of a traditional house makes Vulcain a fixed part of international haute horlogerie – a brand that unites past, present, and future in every watch.

FAQs
About David from WATCHDAVID
My name is David and I have been deeply involved with watches for many years – not only as a dealer but especially as a tester, photographer, and classifier.
Since 2018, I have been running WATCHDAVID as an independent watch project with reviews, videos, and genuine wearing experiences. Many of the watches you find here I have worn myself – often for extended periods.
WATCHDAVID.SHOP is deliberately kept personal. I only sell watches that I truly stand behind – no anonymous mass products, no dropshipping, no “quick trends.” Experience, transparency, and honest assessment are my priorities.
And yes: I am not an anonymous seller. I like good food, sneakers, and photography – and I have a noted weakness for Kinder Chocolate.
If you have questions or are unsure, feel free to contact me directly. I respond personally.
Shipping & Insurance
Within Germany and the EU, I ship free of charge. Shipping is done via DHL and insured up to 500€, 2,500€, or 25,000€, depending on the watch value. The watches are thus always sufficiently insured.
The delivery time can be found in the description and/or under the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after ordering, others are brand new and, for example, only available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...
Cancellation & Return Shipping
You can cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.
I will cover the costs for the return shipping for you.
IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself, I will send you the free return label.
Please simply contact me for this. david@watchdavid.com
It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of signs of use. After successful inspection, I will refund you the purchase price. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.
Authenticity & Condition of the Watches
I guarantee you that all watches I offer are exclusively new original products. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly point this out (e.g. so-called PHOTO WATCHES).
As an official dealer, I offer you exclusively authentic products. These are offered in the original packaging, with warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in the so-called full set. One delivers more, another less...
Warranty & Service
All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which usually lasts two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.
If a warranty case occurs, I will take care of the shipping to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and also organize the return shipment to you. In addition, I handle all communication with the manufacturer so that you don't have to worry about anything.
Even after the warranty period has expired, I remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.
No response received?
You wrote to me via the contact form, through the price proposal, directly by email, chat, but you haven't received a reply?
Then please check your SPAM folder! Many providers are getting crazier and pushing more and more into spam.
I usually answer every inquiry within 24 hours at the latest. On weekends, it can sometimes take a bit longer. As a rule, I respond within a few minutes or hours.
Something can slip past me sometimes too. Or the technology doesn't work as it should. Feel free to write to me again at david@watchdavid.com
Mechanics - Sometimes things can happen there too
Before I ship your order, I carefully check each watch for visible defects.
If a problem should occur, such as damage during transport, please inform me immediately. I will do everything possible to quickly find a solution and ensure that you are satisfied.
My goal is to offer you not only high-quality products but also a first-class shopping experience. I look forward to welcoming you as a satisfied customer!
