A classic of the deep returns

With the reissue of the Skindiver Chronograph, Vulcain writes a new chapter in its long-standing dive watch history. After the brand already reinterpreted the Skindiver Nautique in 2023 as a tribute to the 1960s, it now brings a long-forgotten model back to light – the chronograph version of that legendary dive watch. For decades, this model remained hidden in the archives' shadows. Only through the meticulous research and commitment of Guillaume Laidet, who has been responsible for Vulcain's collection since 2022, was this piece of watch history rediscovered. With this return, Vulcain once again shows how authentic tradition merges with modern technology.

Vintage charm meets modern technology

The Skindiver Chronograph is inspired by the typical design codes of classic dive watches, but combines them with today's demands for technology and comfort. The 39.7 mm stainless steel case with vertically brushed surface not only ensures robustness but also provides a balanced feel on the wrist. The bi-directional rotating bezel with black ceramic inlay visually references the historic original and emphasizes the professional claim of this watch. Its water resistance of 200 meters makes it a reliable companion – not only above but also under water.

VULCAIN Skindiver Chronograph Black

Thoughtful dial with a sporty character

The dial is available in two variants: matte black with brownish aged luminous indices or matte silver with bright white SuperLuminova accents. Both versions offer maximum legibility, even under difficult conditions. The chronograph function is enlivened by colored accents in red or orange – especially the 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock stands out clearly. A special detail is the decimal scaled time measurement, which allows reading time in hundredths of a second – an extremely rare function that is particularly advantageous in sporting or diving applications.

Mechanics at the highest level

Inside works the proven automatic chronograph movement ETA 7753, which is valued for its precision and durability. With a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and a power reserve of 42 hours, the movement delivers reliable performance. The screw-down case back is engraved with a diver in action – a symbol of the maritime DNA of the Skindiver Chronograph. Together with the solid case and the screw-down crown, this results in a watch designed both visually and technically for extreme conditions.

Two styles for individual preferences

Vulcain offers the Skindiver Chronograph in two aesthetically clearly differentiated variants that appeal to different tastes. The version with a black dial and vintage luminous material is aimed at lovers of classic tool watches with patina charm. The silver version, on the other hand, appears more contemporary and elegant – ideal for those who appreciate modern technology in a nostalgic guise. Both models are optionally available with a black leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet, which gives the model additional stability.

The heritage of a manufacture with history

The brand Vulcain looks back on over 150 years of watchmaking tradition. Since 1858, the company from Le Locle, the heart of the Swiss watch industry, has been producing high-quality mechanical timepieces. The manufacture is known for its unique movements and its pioneering role in the history of mechanical watches. Today, Vulcain is housed in a historic villa and proudly maintains its craft heritage. The revival of the Skindiver Chronograph impressively underscores how innovation and history can harmoniously unite.

FAQs

About me

My name is David, I was born in the late 60s in NRW, now live and work in the beautiful Harz Mountains, and have been running this watch shop, among other things, since spring 2022.

Since 2018, I have also been running my watch blog watchdavid.de, which features hundreds of reviews and watch news. Since then, I have taken thousands of professional watch photos for over 100 watch brands. Many photos can be found in my reviews. I am known worldwide for this.

As a result, I naturally had thousands of watches in my hands. And with this shop, I want to bring you closer to watches that have convinced me in many ways.

So come along on a journey full of watches... off the mainstream... and if you have a question, please feel free to ask me anytime via the form, chat, WhatsApp, email or phone.

I am very much looking forward to meeting you.

PS: My hobbies & passions include the internet (first agency already in 1996), Denmark, France's coasts (Brittany, Normandy & Côte d’Azur), hiking, e-MTB, sales (Bachelor of Sales) and photography.

My Achilles' heel includes children's chocolate, good food, sneakers & of course watches... :-)

Shipping & Insurance

Within Germany and the EU, I ship free of charge. Shipping is done via DHL and insured up to 500€, 2,500€, or 25,000€, depending on the watch value. The watches are thus always sufficiently insured.

The delivery time can be found in the description and/or under the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after ordering, others are brand new and, for example, only available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...

Cancellation & Return Shipping

You can cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.

I will cover the costs for the return shipping for you.

IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself, I will send you the free return label.

Please simply contact me for this. david@watchdavid.com

It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of signs of use. After successful inspection, I will refund you the purchase price. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.

Authenticity & Condition of the Watches

I guarantee you that all watches I offer are exclusively new original products. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly point this out (e.g. so-called PHOTO WATCHES).

As an official dealer, I offer you exclusively authentic products. These are offered in the original packaging, with warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in the so-called full set. One delivers more, another less...

Warranty & Service

All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which usually lasts two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.

If a warranty case occurs, I will take care of the shipping to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and also organize the return shipment to you. In addition, I handle all communication with the manufacturer so that you don't have to worry about anything.

Even after the warranty period has expired, I remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.

No response received?

You wrote to me via the contact form, through the price proposal, directly by email, chat, but you haven't received a reply?

Then please check your SPAM folder! Many providers are getting crazier and pushing more and more into spam.

I usually answer every inquiry within 24 hours at the latest. On weekends, it can sometimes take a bit longer. As a rule, I respond within a few minutes or hours.

Something can slip past me sometimes too. Or the technology doesn't work as it should. Feel free to write to me again at david@watchdavid.com

Mechanics - Sometimes things can happen there too

Before I ship your order, I carefully check each watch for visible defects.

If a problem should occur, such as damage during transport, please inform me immediately. I will do everything possible to quickly find a solution and ensure that you are satisfied.

My goal is to offer you not only high-quality products but also a first-class shopping experience. I look forward to welcoming you as a satisfied customer!
