With the Skindiver Chronograph, Vulcain revives a legend from its archives and brings it into the present. The watch carries the DNA of the 1960s but was designed and built to modern standards: a vertically brushed 316L stainless steel case measuring 39.7 mm, only 13 mm high, topped with domed sapphire crystal – robust, clear, timeless. What was once conceived as a tool for adventure now appears seamlessly integrated: classic in appearance, modern in execution.
Vintage character, modern interpretation
The bidirectional rotating bezel with a black ceramic inlay harks back to historical dive watches but relies on contemporary material quality and precision. The green dial with silver subdials looks fresh yet deliberately understated; indices with white Super-LumiNova® guarantee legibility day and night. A rare decimal scale – for measuring in hundredths of minutes – emphasizes the instrumental approach and makes the chronograph particularly practical for sporting timekeeping.
Mechanics with character
Inside, the automatic caliber based on the ETA 7753 (C088) is at work. The mechanical self-winding movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and provides a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. Start, stop, and reset operations proceed with the typical confidence of this reliable pillar of Swiss chronograph technology – precise, repeatable, and built for continuous performance.
Case, glass, water protection
The vertical brushing of the 316L steel gives the case depth and texture, while the highly domed sapphire crystal ensures crystal-clear visibility and the characteristic retro look. Water-resistant to 50 meters, the chronograph remains unruffled in everyday life – rain, splashes, and pools are confidently handled – while the solid stainless steel buckle securely fastens the strap. Everything feels as if it were made from a single piece: uncompromising in execution, understated in appearance.

A look inside the movement
The screw-down display case back opens the stage for the decorated movement: a perlage-finished mainplate, bridges with Geneva stripes, and a brushed rotor with Vulcain engraving. These embellishments are more than just ornamentation – they speak of care, craftsmanship, and the desire to make the mechanics visible. Each rotation of the rotor is a reminder that this is a mechanical creation designed to last for decades.
Wearing comfort and appearance
With a diameter of 39.7 mm, the Skindiver Chronograph sits balanced on the wrist: present, but never loud. The interplay of matte steel, ceramic bezel, and the rich green of the dial creates a distinctive yet versatile aesthetic. Whether on leather for a classic look or on steel for maximum everyday wearability – the character remains: sporty, functional, and unique.
The Vulcain Manufacture
Since 1858, Vulcain has stood for distinctive models and independent mechanics – rooted in Le Locle, the cradle of Swiss watchmaking. The Skindiver Chronograph picks up precisely here: it combines origin with progress, history with the present. The result is a timepiece that appeals to collectors, captivates enthusiasts, and shines in everyday life – a piece of horological culture, reimagined for today.

FAQs
About David from WATCHDAVID
My name is David, and I've been deeply involved with watches for many years – not just as a dealer, but primarily as a tester, photographer, and classifier.
Since 2018, I’ve been running WATCHDAVID as an independent watch project featuring reviews, videos, and real-world wearing experiences. Many of the watches you'll find here have been on my own wrist – often for extended periods.
WATCHDAVID.SHOP is intentionally personal. I only sell watches that I genuinely stand behind – no anonymous mass-produced goods, no dropshipping, no "quick trends." Experience, transparency, and honest assessment are paramount to me.
And yes: I am not an anonymous seller. I enjoy good food, sneakers, and photography – and I have a proven weakness for Kinder Chocolate.
If you have any questions or are unsure, feel free to contact me directly. I will respond personally.
Shipping & Insurance
Within Germany and the EU, shipping is free of charge. Shipping is handled by DHL and insured up to €500, €2,500 or €25,000, depending on the watch's value. The watches are therefore always sufficiently insured.
You can find the delivery time in the description and/or below the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after an order is placed, while others are brand new and, for example, will only be available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...
Revocation & Return Shipping
You can revoke your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.
I will cover the return shipping costs for you.
IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself; I will send you the free return label.
To do this, please simply contact me. david@watchdavid.com
It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of any signs of wear. After a successful inspection, I will refund the purchase price to you. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.
Authenticity & Condition of the Watches
I guarantee that all watches I offer are exclusively new, original goods. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly state otherwise (e.g., so-called PHOTO WATCHES).
As an official dealer, I exclusively offer authentic products. These are offered in their original packaging, with a warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in a so-called Full Set. Some deliver more, some less...
Warranty & Service
All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which is usually two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.
Should a warranty claim arise, I will take care of shipping the watch to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and will also organize its return to you. In addition, I will handle all communication with the manufacturer, so you don't have to worry about anything.
Even after the warranty period has expired, I will remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.
No answer received?
You contacted me, via the contact form, about the price proposal, directly by email, chat, but you didn't receive a reply?
Then please check your SPAM folder! Many providers are getting crazier and crazier and are sending more and more to spam.
I usually answer every inquiry within 24 hours at the latest. On weekends, it may take a little longer. As a rule, I reply within a few minutes or hours.
Something can also slip through for me. Or the technology isn't working as it should. Feel free to contact me again. david@watchdavid.com
Mechanics - Sometimes things can go wrong
