An Icon Returns: The Vulcain Skindiver Chronograph
In 2023, one of Vulcain's most significant dive watches made its comeback: the Skindiver Nautique. Originally launched in the 1960s, it was already considered a milestone in professional dive watches back then. However, few knew that a chronograph prototype was also developed at the same time – a version that remained hidden for decades. Thanks to the dedicated work of Guillaume Laidet, who has been responsible for Vulcain's collection since 2022, this hidden chapter of the brand's history was brought back to light. The result is an authentic reinterpretation that skillfully combines technology, history, and collector's passion.
Limited to 100 pieces. Please inquire beforehand.
Classic Design with Contemporary Technology
The Skindiver Chronograph is more than a simple re-release – it is a sympathetic fusion of past and present. The stainless steel case measures 39.7 millimeters and impresses with its vertically brushed surface, which provides subtle elegance while emphasizing the robustness of a true diving instrument. Despite its classic look, the model has been technically brought up to date. This includes a bidirectional rotating bezel with a grippy edge, whose black ceramic inlay refers to the original designs of the 1960s. Its water resistance of up to 200 meters also makes it a reliable companion underwater.
Dial with Character and Depth
The dial is available in two variants: matte black with brown aged luminous indices or matte silver with crisp white SuperLuminova. Both versions offer exceptionally good legibility – even in low light conditions. The striking subdials with orange or red accents emphasize the watch's sporty character and are functionally clearly structured. Particularly eye-catching is the 30-minute counter at three o'clock, which not only looks appealing but also impresses with its precision in sports use. An additional highlight is the integrated decimal scale, which allows time measurements in hundredths of a second – a true rarity in watchmaking and a practical tool for demanding divers or athletes.

A Look into the Heart – Decorated Movement
Those who examine the back of the watch will be greeted by the exhibition caseback with its fine engraving of a diver – a subtle but effective symbol of this timepiece's maritime origin. Behind the glass, the finely decorated automatic movement is revealed: the ETA 7753, a proven Swiss caliber that impresses with its reliability and precision. The bridges are adorned with Geneva stripes, the main plate features a perlage finish, and the rotor is brushed with an engraved Vulcain logo. With a frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour and a power reserve of 42 hours, the movement offers everything one could wish for from a modern chronograph – including a mechanical hand-winding option.
Two Versions – One Standard
Whether in classic black with vintage flair or in a cool silver look with a modern touch: The Skindiver Chronograph remains true to its origins in both versions. For the perfect finish, both leather straps in black or brown and a stainless steel bracelet are available. This allows the watch to effortlessly adapt to any situation – be it on dives, in everyday life, or as a stylish companion on weekends. With this re-edition, Vulcain once again proves that with a delicate touch for history and a sense of innovation, watches can be created that perfectly combine present and past.

FAQs
About David from WATCHDAVID
My name is David, and I've been deeply involved with watches for many years – not just as a dealer, but primarily as a tester, photographer, and classifier.
Since 2018, I’ve been running WATCHDAVID as an independent watch project featuring reviews, videos, and real-world wearing experiences. Many of the watches you'll find here have been on my own wrist – often for extended periods.
WATCHDAVID.SHOP is intentionally personal. I only sell watches that I genuinely stand behind – no anonymous mass-produced goods, no dropshipping, no "quick trends." Experience, transparency, and honest assessment are paramount to me.
And yes: I am not an anonymous seller. I enjoy good food, sneakers, and photography – and I have a proven weakness for Kinder Chocolate.
If you have any questions or are unsure, feel free to contact me directly. I will respond personally.
Shipping & Insurance
Within Germany and the EU, shipping is free of charge. Shipping is handled by DHL and insured up to €500, €2,500 or €25,000, depending on the watch's value. The watches are therefore always sufficiently insured.
You can find the delivery time in the description and/or below the shopping cart button. Some watches are only produced after an order is placed, while others are brand new and, for example, will only be available in a few weeks (so-called PRE-SALE), etc...
Revocation & Return Shipping
You can revoke your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.
I will cover the return shipping costs for you.
IMPORTANT: Do not send the watch back yourself; I will send you the free return label.
To do this, please simply contact me. david@watchdavid.com
It is also important that the watch is unworn and free of any signs of wear. After a successful inspection, I will refund the purchase price to you. The refund will be made using the same payment method you used for the purchase.
Authenticity & Condition of the Watches
I guarantee that all watches I offer are exclusively new, original goods. The watches come directly from the manufacturer and have had no previous owners, unless I explicitly state otherwise (e.g., so-called PHOTO WATCHES).
As an official dealer, I exclusively offer authentic products. These are offered in their original packaging, with a warranty card, etc., just as they are delivered by the dealer. Everything in a so-called Full Set. Some deliver more, some less...
Warranty & Service
All watches purchased from me come with the international manufacturer's warranty, which is usually two years. Some brands even offer a warranty of up to 5 years.
Should a warranty claim arise, I will take care of shipping the watch to the manufacturer or the responsible service center for you and will also organize its return to you. In addition, I will handle all communication with the manufacturer, so you don't have to worry about anything.
Even after the warranty period has expired, I will remain your contact person and support you with service questions or repairs.
No answer received?
You contacted me, via the contact form, about the price proposal, directly by email, chat, but you didn't receive a reply?
Then please check your SPAM folder! Many providers are getting crazier and crazier and are sending more and more to spam.
I usually answer every inquiry within 24 hours at the latest. On weekends, it may take a little longer. As a rule, I reply within a few minutes or hours.
Something can also slip through for me. Or the technology isn't working as it should. Feel free to contact me again. david@watchdavid.com
Mechanics - Sometimes things can go wrong
